Finding support isn’t always easy. You may not find the support you are looking for locally, so we have put together organisations who operate nationally. If you would like to find some local services, we have teamed up with AtaLoss.org, where you can search for support by postcode or county, and speak to someone through their online chat.

Coroner’s Court Support Service

The Coroners’ Courts Support Service (CCSS) is an independent voluntary organisation whose trained volunteers offer emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending an Inquest at a Coroner’s Court. You can talk to them about any aspect of the coroner’s or inquest process. You can call them on 0300 111 2141 or email [email protected].

Cruse Bereavement Care

Cruse support anyone who has been bereaved in any way, including through suicide. They offer a national helpline 0808 808 1677​ which is open Monday-Friday 9.30-5pm (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings until 8pm.

DrugFam

DrugFam provides a lifeline of safe, caring and professional support to families, friends and partners who have been bereaved by addiction or related causes, such a the loss of someone to suicide, when they were struggling with addiction. Their helpline is 0300 888 3853.

Samaritans

Samaritans have a national crisis line, and local branches across the country. You can always call them on 116 123, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends is an organisation led by bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents who are dedicated to the support and care of other bereaved family members who have suffered the death of a child. You can call them on 0345 123 2304 or email [email protected].

Winston’s Wish work to support bereaved children, young people, their families, and the professionals who support them. You can call their helpine 08088 020 021 to talk about anything to do with the bereavement, speaking to children, or any emotional or practical support.
